Comparison of Atmospheric Precipitation between GPS/MET and Meteorological Satellite

This study aimed to introduce the basic retrieval principle of atmosphere precipitation from GPS/MET and meteorological satellite respectively and the working mechanism of COSMIC and AIRS.Then the retrieved atmosphere precipitation derived from COSMIC and AIRS was compared.The results showed that the retrievals derived from COSMIC with the features of broad coverage,vertical resolution,quasi-real time and all-weather measurement are closer to the results from radiosonde observations than AIRS retrievals,but the COSMIC shortcoming was that the detection height was limited by occultation observation,so it was not able to acquire the lower atmospheric information.Though AIRS has the better retrieval precision in clear sky,it couldn't be used to detect under cloudy conditions.
