Effects of CaCl_2 on Preservation of Cut Rose

[Objective] The research aimed to study the effects of CaCl2 on preservation of cut rose.[Method] The experiment was made by using different concentrations preservative solution of CaCl2.[Result] The results showed that the different concentrations of CaCl2 had some keeping fresh functions for cut rose.The solution with 4 g/L CaCl2+3% sucrose and 300 mg/L 8-hydroxyquinoline had the best fresh-keeping effect.The vase-life of the treated flowers were prolonged,these stalks could keep hard and the time of blue-stain and corolla-droop were delayed.Besides,the treatment could keep fresh weight,maintain stability of soluble sugar and anthocyanidin content and relative membrane permeability in petals tissue.However,the solution of CaCl2 could not control the increase of pH value for cut rose petal tissue.[Conclusion] The study can provide the basis for CaCl2 application in the preservation of cut rose in future.
