Analysis on Chemical Constituents of Tobacco Leaves in Southwest Guizhou Province

[Objective] The study was to provide the theoretical basis for the location of tobacco quality.[Method] With the upper,middle and lower tobacco leaves from 6 counties and cities in southwest Guizhou Province as the materials,their chemical components were measured,and each chemical constituent of middle tobacco leaves was endowed marks to generally evaluate tobacco quality.[Result] The total sugar contents in upper,middle and lower leaves were 13.82%-34.34%,15.51%-43.02%,17.85%-38.16% resp.and the reducing sugar contents were 12.84%-32.28%,14.44%-36.87%,11.74%-36.79% resp.the nicotine contents were 2.79%-5.24%,0.86%-4.31%,0.97%-3.12% resp.the total nitrogen contents were 1.80%-3.27%,1.16%-3.07%,1.02%-2.58% resp.the potassium contents were 0.84%-3.99%,1.04%-3.55%,1.23%-4.00% resp.the chlorine contents were 0.08%-0.8%,0.04%-1.09%,0.03%-0.44% resp.The average contents of nicotine,total nitrogen,protein and chlorine in upper leaves were the highest,and the average contents of total sugar,reducing sugar and potassium in lower leaves were the highest.The sugar content of tobacco was high collectivity,and the nicotine content was in middle and relatively low,the potassium content was nearly suitable,and the ratio of sugar to nicotine,nitrogen to nicotine,potassium to chlorine were all suitable.[Conclusion] The chemical constituents in middle tobacco leaves from 6 counties and cities in southwest Guizhou Province had no obvious difference,and the tobacco quality was good.
