Study on the Antimicrobial Activities of Extracts from Six Kinds of Medicinal Plants in Hainan Island

[Objective] The research aimed to study the antimicrobial activities of extracts from 6 kinds of medicinal plants from Hainan Island and provide references for their reasonable development.[Method] The conventional diffusion method was applied to test the antimicrobial activities of different polar solvent extracts from Canthium horridu,Macaranga tanarius,Clausena lansium,Paederia scandens,Paederia cavalerie and Xanthium sibiricum on Escherichia coli,Streptomyces aureus,Bacillus subtilis,mucor and Aspergillus niger,respectively.[Result] The chloroform extracts from C.horridu,gallic acid crude extracts from M.tanarius,petroleum ether extract from fruit core of C.lansium had obvious antimicrobial effects on E.coli,B.subtili and S.aureus.And gallic acid crude extracts from M.tanarius had antimicrobial effects on mucor and A.niger. [Conclusion] The chloroform extracts from C.horridu,gallic acid crude extracts from M. tanarius and petroleum ether extracts from fruit core of C.lansium had antimicrobial activities.
