Effects of Molybdenum on Cadmium Content and Physiological Indices of Chinese White Cabbage under Cadmium Stress

[Objective] The purpose was to discuss the effects of molybdenum on cadmium content and physiological indices of plant under cadmium stress.[Method]With Chinese white cabbage as tested material,the effects of molybdenum on the growth, cadmium content and contents of total Kalium,total sodium,total nitrogen,total carbon and solubility sugar under cadmium stress were studied on the basis of Hoagland nutrition.[Result]With molybdenum concentrations increasing under cadmium stress,plant height,the largest leaf length,the largest leaf width,the largest leaf area and fresh weight and dry weight aboveground of Chinese white cabbage were lower than the control;fresh weight and dry weight belowground decreased increasingly,and the differences were not significant.Content of Cd aboveground of Chinese white cabbage has the trend of reducing markedly with molybdenum concentrations increasing under cadmium stress.Content of total kalium has the trend of increasing,and the difference between 0.10 mg/L molybdenum content and the control was significant;contents of total sodium and total nitrogen have little changes;contents of total carbon and solubility sugar were lower at 0.05 mg/L Molybdenum content,and the difference with the other treatment was significant.[Conclusion] The enhanced molybdenum concentrations could decrease the absorption of cadmium,however,inhibit the growth of plant.
