Study on the Content Determination of Polyphenol in Water Extracts from Humulus scanalens (Lour) Merr.and Its Antioxidant Activity

[Objective] The research aimed to determine the content of polyphenol substance in water extracts from air-dried samples of Humulus scanalens(Lour)Merr.and its antioxidant ability in vitro and provide the scientific basis for reasonable exploitation and utilization of H.scanalens resources value.[Method] The content of polyphenol was determined in H.scanalens by using ferrous tartrate method.The antioxidant ability of polyphenol extracts from different parts of H.scanalens was determined by using salicylic acid method and pyrogallol autoxidation method.[Result] The content of polyphenol in the fresh leaves collected in October was the highest,reaching 0.371±0.006 mg/g.The highest inhibition capability of the extracted polyphenol to superoxide anion free radicals reached 69.750% and the highest scavenging capacity to hydroxyl free radicals reached 65.790%.[Conclusion] The polyphenol extracts from different overground parts of H.scanalens had certain anti-oxidation,the content in the leaves was highest and that in the stems was lowest.
