Antibacterial Action in vitro of Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal.

DAN Fei-jun et al(Hubei Key Laboratory of Natural Products Research and Development,China Three Gorges University,Yichang,Hubei 443002)
[Objective] The study aims to research the anti-bacterial activity in vitro of the extract and its extractive fractions in Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal..[Method] Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal.is extracted by ethanol.Five fractions are obtained by systematically separating the extracts.Ceftriaxone sodium is positive control, the antibacterial activities in vitro on bacterial species are determined by cylinder-plate method and determining their corresponding minimum inhibition concentration(MIC).[Result] The extract and ethyl acetate fractions show that all strains have high anti-bacterial activities, the diameter is bigger than 15.00 mm.Especially the extract, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions on Pseudomonas aeruginosa(clinic bacterial)reach to 19.31,19.67 and 17.69 mm,the MIC are 0.625 0 mg/ml.[Conclusion] The extract and its five fractions of Rodgersia aesculifolia Batal.have different anti-bacterial activities to different strains.A few of them have the same bacteriostasis as Ceftriaxone sodium for injection or even more.
