Study on Yield and Quality of Different Panicle Weight Rice Varieties

In order to obtain rice variety with the optimal panicle weight type and high yield and quality,40 rice varieties were taken to explore the differences of yield and quality of different rice varieties with different panicle weights.The results showed that the heavy panicle type(HPT) varieties had high yield,high chalk percentage and big chalkiness degree,alkali spreading value and gel consistency.The middle panicle type(MPT) varieties had big brown rice rate and milled rice rate,low contents of amylose and protein,and high eating score.The light panicle type(LPT) varieties had little spikelet number per panicle, low yield,small alkali spreading value and high protein content.Overall,the HPT varieties had higher yield and normal rice quality,while MPT varieties had higher yield and better appearance,processing and eating qualities.
