Root Biomass and Distribution Characteristics of Natural Poplar Forest In Ergis River Area of Xinjiang

WU Xiao-cheng et al(Forestry College,Inner Mongolia Agricultural University,Hohhot,Inner Mongolia 010019)  
Standard plot method is taken to investigate root biomass of nature poplar forest in Eergis River area in north of Xinjiang.The results shows that the total root biomass among nature poplar forest types following the order: Populus jrtyschensis(46.265 t/hm2) P.nigra(39.261 t/hm2)P.canescens(31.663 t/hm2)P.laurifolia(23.416 t/hm2)P.alba(11.820 t/hm2).Each grade root biomass percentage of total root biomass is different,roots are distributed during 0~40 cm soil layer,94.0% for P.nigra,94.7% for P.laurifolia,89.5% for P.jrtyschensis,95% for P.alba,90.1% for P.canescens.The root biomass density among nature poplar forest types following the order:P.jrtyschensis(33.046 t/hm2·m)P.nigra(32.718 t/hm2·m)P.canescens(24.356 t/hm2·m)P.laurifolia(18.012 t/hm2·m)P.alba(10.745 t/hm2·m).
