Extraction,Separation and Purification of Polyphenols from Sargassum and Its Antimicrobial Activity Test

[Objective] The purpose was to study the polyphenols in Sargassum.[Method] The extraction,isolation and purification,examination,qualitative and quantitative analysis and antimicrobial activity test of polyphenols from the Sargassum in Weizhou Island of the North Sea in Guangxi Province were studied to investigate the effect of different concn.of alcohol,volumes of alcohol and extraction time on the extraction yield of polyphenols from Sargassum.[Result] The extractive method of extracting 2 h with 65% alcohol at 40 ml had obvious effect on the extraction of polyphenols from Sargassum,by which,the content of polyphenols from Sargassum was 7.777 mg/g.It was found that polypheols were significant against Salmonella and its effect against E.coli was the second,but it had no significant effect on Bacillus subtilis and had no effect on Staphylococcus aurells at all when the polypheols was 140.055 μg/sheet.[Conclusion] The concn.of alcohol,volumes of alcohol and extraction time all could effect the extraction of polyphenols from Sargassum.
