Based on NCEP/NCAR monthly mean reanalysis data including OLR,500 hPa geopotential height field data, effects of summer tropical convection on location and itensity variation of Western Pacific subtropical high, rainfall between Yangtze valley and Huaihe basin were studied by using correlation analysis, synthesis analysis. In summer, the convective activities are intensified (weakened) from the area around Philippines to Indo-China Peninsula through South Chins Sea,the Western Pacific subtropical high may shift northward (southward),the Western Pacific subtropical high abruptly shifts northward in mid-June and early July during its northward advance (it shifts northward during its northward advance). It caused that summer monsoon rainfall is below (above normal) and drought (flood) may occur in the Yangtze valley and Huaihe basin.
