Effects of Alternaria azukiae on Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Trifolium repens L

[Objective] The research aimed to study the effects of Alternaria azukiae (hara) comb.nov.on physiological and biochemical characteristics of Trifolium repens L..[Method] The effects of Alternaria azukiae on the growth and activate oxygen metabolism of Trifolium repens L.were studied by the potted plant.[Result] The results showed that with the invasion of pathogen Alternaria azukiae,there existed obviously negative effects on the growth of Trifolium repens L..The patient plants infected by the pathogens were shorter and smaller,their fresh weights decreased by 47.06% drastically,and the chlorophyll and protein contents of the patient plants decreased too.At the same time,the penetration of cell membrane increased,the contents of MDA in the patient plants increased about 1.33 times of the controls after infected 9 days.Furthermore,the balance of protective enzyme system was broken,the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) decreased,reaching 34.70% and 45.00% of the controls respectively after infected 9 days.[Conclusion] The study can know the growth status of Trifolium repens L.and its change process and law of activate oxygen metabolism under stress,to provide the reference for exploring the disease resistant mechanism of Trifolium repens L.to Alternaria azukiae (hara) comb.nov.and the breeding of resistance to disease.
