Analysis of the Relationship between Low Level Jet and Cyclone Rainstorm Using Wind Profiler Data

Using the conventional data and wind profiler data of Linyi,two cyclone rainstorm processes on Aug 17th and 21st of 2008 in the southeast of Shandong were analyzed.The results showed that they were developed by Huanghuai cyclone,corresponding to the development and strengthening of the low level southwest jet.The vertical structure and maintaining of low level jet can be clearly revealed by wind profiler data.There were warm advection and water vapor transport at low level in the troposphere,and apparent mesoscale features.The intensity of the low level jet was related closely to enhancement of the rainfall.The more the intensity of the low level jet may have a greater intensity of the rainfall.
