Studys on Pollen Viabilities of 4 Rose Cultivars

WANG Qiong et al (Department of Ornamental Horticulture,College of Landscape Architecture,Beijing Forestry University,Beijing 100083)  
The pollen viabilities of 4 rose cultivars were determined and the effects of sucrose solution at different concn. on the germination rate of pollens and the changes of pollen viability in treatments with different cold-storage periods were investigated through in vitro culture. The results indicated that the germination rates of pollens of different rose cultivars had significant difference. The germination rates of pollens of cultivars Zizhi and BeijingDanbanbai were relatively higher and their highest germination rate exceeded 40% ; that of cultivars Pingyin1 and Xihu1 were relatively lower and their highest germination rate was only 10% -20%. The effects of sucrose concn. in medium on germination rates of pollens of various cultivars had significant difference; the viability of cold-stored pollens was obviously decreased along with extending of cold-storage period.
