Effects of Exogenous Osmotic Substances on Growth and Physiological Characteristics of Cucumis sativus L. under NaCl Stress

[Objective] The research aimed to study the effects of exogenous osmotic substances on growth and physiological characteristics of Cucumis sativus L.under NaCl stress.[Method] Effects of supplemental osmotic substances(betaine,proline,glycine and serine)on growth and salt tolerance of Cucumis sativus L.treated with 50 mmol/L NaCl were investigated.[Result] Supplemental different concentrations osmotic substances could ameliorate the harm of salt-tolerance on cytomembrane of Cucumis sativus L.seedling,reduce the content of malondialdehyde and proline of Cucumis sativus L.plants under salt-stress.The salt-tolerance of Cucumis sativus L.could be significantly ameliorated by supplemental 30 mg/L betaine,the 45 mg/L proline,the 45 mg/L serine and the 15 mg/L glycine.[Conclusion] The study can lay foundation for deeply researching the salt-tolerance of Cucumis sativus L..
