Analysis of Land Use Change and Its Driving Forces in a Small Region Scale in Rapid Urbanization Stage

Based on analyzing the driving force of land use change characteristics in Qiandaohu Town,Hangzhou City from 1993 to 2004,the dynamic trend and degree of land use in the district was analyzed by spatial analysis of GIS,and its driving forces were also discussed and evaluated. The results showed that the main characteristics of land use change were the input of urban and industrial and mining land and the output of forest land. The output area of cultivated land,forest land,idle land and other idle land exceeded its input area. However the area changes of garden land,other agricultural land,water facilities land and urban area and mining land were opposite. Factors,such as the natural factor,urbanization,structure adjust of agriculture,economic benefits,traffic development and national policy were the main driving forces that caused land use changes in this district. The distance to the federal highway was the most important natural driving factor.
