Characteristics of Precipitation Transfer Efficiency of Aircraft Precipitation Enhancement Areas

WANG Wei-jia et al (Institute of Plateau Meteorology,CMA,Chengdu,Sichuan 610072)
Based on the ground observational data from 79 meteorological stations during the 30 years, this study calculates the total precipitable water vapor and the precipitation transfer efficiency of the aircraft rainfall enhancement areas in Sichuan Province, and analyzes the characteristics of precipitation transfer efficiency as well as the relationship between it and rainy days. Results indicate that the precipitation transfer efficiency of all the aircraft rainfall enhancement areas is low with the smallest of 7.34% and the biggest of 12.29% in average. The ground rainfall amounts account for very small proportion of the entire precipitable water, thus, the cloud water resources see broad exploitation prospect. The spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation transfer efficiency is obviously uneven, and the precipitation transfer efficiency of all meteorological stations differs very large.Precipitation transfer efficiency varies with seasons obviously with the maximum in summer, and then followed by autumn and at last winter. The correlation coefficient between precipitation transfer efficiency and rainy day is 0.571 58.The precipitation transfer efficiency shows a linear increasing correlation with heavy rainy or rainstorm days with the correlation coefficient of 0.825 02.
