Effects of Dilute Acid Hydrolysis on the Capacity of Hydrogen Production from Maize Stalk

[Objective] The aim was to explore the effects of dilute acid hydrolysis on the capacity of hydrogen production from maize stalk.[Method] Mechanical disintegration,stem explosion and dilute acid hydrolysis were carried out on maize stalk,and the effects of different treatments and particle size of maize stalk on the capacity of hydrogen production from maize stalk were analyzed.[Result] The capacity of hydrogen production of the pretreatment which was treated with 0.8% H2SO4 for hydrolysis after stem explosion was better;the capacity of hydrogen production achieved its best when the particle size of maize stalk was 0.425 – 0.850 mm;when the 0.8% H2SO4(M)∶Straw(W)=10∶1,the capacity of hydrogen production was better.[Conclusion] The capacity of hydrogen production from maize stalk was better when treated with 0.8% H2SO4 for hydrolysis after stem explosion.
