Analysis on the Landscape Fragmentation in Dongguan

The analysis of the landscape fragmentation in Dongguan could promote the sustainable development of its eco-environment,society and economy.Guided by the theory of landscape ecology,various landscape indexes,including patch number,mean patch area,fragmentation index,fractal dimensions,boundary density,patch density,landscape diversity,landscape dominance and landscape fragmentation,are selected to analyze the evolution features of landscape fragmentation in Dongguan.As indicated by the results,the construction land constantly invades and occupies the farmland and natural landscape,the patch number within the study area keeps increasing,while the mean patch area decreases rapidly,which indicates that the landscape fragmentation degree intensifies;the land use degree improves slowly after 1995,showing that Dongguan puts more emphasis on its overall development in the context of rapid city expansion and the landscape fragmentation speed tends to rationalize.
