Analysis on Genetic Diversity of Mitochondria from Venerupis philippinarum in the Coasts of Yantai and Weihai

[Objective] The aim was to understand genetic diversity and genetic differentiation of wild Venerupis philippinarum population in the coast of China.[Method] Based on PCR technology,COⅠ gene fragments of the mitochondria from two populations of Yantai and Weihai were amplified and analyzed.[Result] Fifty samples all obtained COⅠ gene fragment of 684 bp.A total of 42 haplotypes were defined,and 62 variation sites were detected.The haplotypes diversity of two populations was both high,while the nucleotide diversity was low.The phylogenetic tree of haplotypes established by maximum likelihood(ML) method showed that the samples of two geographic populations presented diffused distribution and had no obvious population differentiation.[Conclusion] The result indicated that the gene exchange of marine animal was easy,and the separation among different seas was weak.
