Genetical study on tillering characters of japonica rice varieties.

Xie Yuanzhang et al(Lu'an Municipal Agri─tech Extension Center,Lu'an 237000)  
The experiment was conducted for two years by using 17 japonicarice varieties to determine the genetic relationship between tiller number and yield.The result showed that the tillering capacity can be used as an important prediction index of plant type in rice breeding due to high heritability and relative genetic advance and correlation with tilering rate and yield per plant.Path analysis also revealed that a high─yielding variety of rice should possess early,fast growing,heavy and scattered tillers.
