Possible Anti-tumor Promting Properties of Bitter Gourd and Other Vegetables

30 kinds of vegetables were tested for their anti-tumor promoting properties by the method of EBV activation inhibitory activity. The results showed that 24 species and 18 species,which were 70 percent of total 62 vegetable extraction samples,inhibited the activation strongly and moderately, resprctively.Among those species,bitter gourd kale,amaranth,galic,hot pepper had better effects. The further studies on the anti-tumor promoting properties of bitter gourd showed that the cultivar kinds,plant parts,cultivation conditions and extracted solvent affected the properties,and compounds with anti-tumor promoting activity were purified.
