XU Xian-qiao (Foreign Language Department, Nantong Normal Institute, Nantong 226007, Jiangsu, China)
To study on one’s own is a kind of study, in which learners become owners of learning. In the process of cultivating this ablilty, teachers should guide students to foster the idea of studying on their own, cultivate their initiative, by means of the carrier of teaching materials, lead students to “express freely” and let them know their role in cultivating this ability.
