ZHANG Qiang, ZHU Cheng (Department of City and Resources, Nanjing University, 210093, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China)  
Field investigation and analyses of the grain size, geochemical, stable carbon isotope etc climate proxies all indicate that this region, in about 14000aBP, underwent the expansion of the swamp. Subsequently, the swamp, because of aridity, began to decrease in area, and even disappeared. This process was followed by an immediate flooding period. The region, after the Younger Dryas cooling event (108000~10200aBP), came into the warming period of the Holocene, and then climate in the region fluctuated subsequently. The temperature this region, after the warming period in the Holocene (7562±90aBP~3800aBP), decreased under the influence of the Little Ice Age. The loess-like soil on the top of the profile, after study on the climate proxies, was wind-genesis during the main cooling period (3000~2850aBP) in the Holocene. The study result indicates that flood usually occurred in the climate transition period. Based on the result, the author believes that the appearance of flood may be in a certain relation with the abrupt climate event in the process of the global climate evolution.
