Studies on Seismic Anisotropy in the Crust by Shear-wave Splitting

GAO Yuan(Institute of Earthquake Science,China Earthquake Administration,Beijing 100036,China)  
Seismic anisotropy in the crust is mainly originated from crack-induced anisotropy.Shear-wave will split when it travels through anisotropic media.The polarizations and time-delays of shear-wave splitting are related to the geometrical and physical characteristics of the crustal media.Shear-wave splitting could be adopted to study the stress field in the crust and its dynamic variation.
