Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Glucose at a Glass Carbon Electrode Modified With Nickel Nanoparticles Decorated Carbon Nanotubes in Alkaline Solution

Nickel nanoparticles with average diameters about 17 nm and face-centered cubic(fcc) structure were uniformly attached on the surface of the carbon nanotubes(CNTs-Ni) by wet chemistry,which were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).A glass carbon electrode modified with nickel-decorated carbon nanotubes(CNTs-Ni/GCE) was prepared.The electrochemical behavior of the CNTs-Ni/GCE and the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose were investigated by cyclic voltammetry in 1.0 mol/L NaOH solution.The cyclic voltammetry showed the CNTs-Ni/GCE possesses good electrochemical behaviour and good catalytic activity for the electro-oxidation of glucose in alkaline medium at potentials positive.
