The Study about the Horizontal Motion of the Piedment Fault of Mt.Huosha
Hu Xiaomeng(Department of Geography)
The piedmont fault of Mt. Huoshan is an important boundary one on the east-ernorth of Linfen Basin. The author discoves this fault has experienced a dextral dis-placement of 12. 5km since the pliocene epoch by studying not only the offset of rocksand gravels(N_2)on two sides of the fault, but the morphotecnic features on the west-side of the fauIt. The mean rate of horizontal slip of this fault is 2. 5mm per year, andthat of vertical slip is 0. 5mm per year, which indicates the neotctonic movement is pri-marily composed of shearslides. At last, the author, according to the former investiga-tion and the the development of the pluvial fans on the western piedmont of Huoshan, puts forward that Linfen Basin is a regin with high seismic intensity.
