The changes and significance of serum electrolyte level in children with serious pneumonia

Objective To investigate the correlation between children's serious pneumonia and serum potassium, sodium, chloride, calcium level.Methods Electrolyte was detected and compared in 48 children patients with serious and common pneumonia.Results In common pneumonia electrolyte was normal level, in serious pneumonia group except potassium was normal, the serum sodium, chloride, calcium level was lower (P0.01,P0.05). electrolyte level in poor prognosis group was obviously lower than that in good prognosis group.Conclusion The serum electrolyte level may indirectly show pneumonia disease degree and prognosis.
