On preoperative intraarterial chemotherapy for cervical carcinoma

Aim To evaluate clinical significance of preoperative intraarterial chemotherapy for cervical carcinoma.Methods 26 patients with cervical cancer in stage Ⅰa~Ⅱb were treated with arterial chemoembolization and were analysed retrospectively.Results All foci were ablated.Cervical diameter before and after intraarterial chemotherapy was 4.0~6.0 cm(5.30±0.63)and 3.0~5.0 cm(4.10±0.52),comparison of which were notabily significant(t=2.55,P0.05).In the meantime,it became soft.Tissue besides uterus was peeled off easily,with less bleeding and shorter operating time.The postoperative examination of the pathology showed there was no cell of cancer in any stump.Conclusion Preoperative intraarterial chemotherapy for cervical carcinoma is an effective method.
