YANG Mu,DIAO Xiu-zhu,HUANG Ye-hua,REN Wei(Department of Nephrology,Anhui Provincial Hospital Hefei 230001,China)
Aim To evaluate the effects of C-reactive protein on the response to erythropoietin in chronic hemodialysis patients. Methods CRP,serum albumin(Alb),hemoglobin(Hb) were measured in 60 hemodialysis patients with anemia, rule of iron deficiency, infection and hyperparathyroidism.60 cases were given EPO 3000u S.C.twice a week.Based on CRP levels, into the increased CRP group and normal CRP group, serum Alb、Hb、HCT were assessed 3 months after administered EPO.Results Among the patients in the increased CRP group 19cases(31.6 %),no significant difference of the level of Hb,HCT and serum Alb was found before and after EPO treatment. In the normal CRP group, levels of serum Alb and Hb、HCT significantly increased(P0.05) and a better improvement in clinical manifestation at the end of 3 months of treatment. Conclusion Inflammatory reaction is a common condition in chronic hemodialysis patients, and related to the development of hypoalbumiemia and anemia. It is also one of the causes for resistance to EPO.
