An experimental study of the mechanisms of Armillariella tabescens for the prevention of cisplatin-induced gastrointestinal tract reaction in the rat

Aim To study of the mechanisms of of Armillariella tabescens for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced gastrointestinal tract reaction by cisplatin.Methods Ninety male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into control group,model group,low dose of Armillariella tabescens group,middle dose of Armillariella tabescens group,high dose of Armillariella tabescens group and ondansetron group.Rats were injected intraperitoneally with cisplatin to induce pica,Using ELISA technique to assay the content of 5-HT in gastrointestinal tract and brain tissue,and observe the effect of Armillariella tabescens on 5-HT.Results 24~72 h after cisplatin administration,in the middle and high dose of Armillariella tabescens group,kaolin intake lower significantly compared to intake in the model group,respectively(P0.05).After cisplatin administration,5-HT in duodenum and gastric antrum tissue,the middle dose of Armillariella tabescens group at 24 h(P0.01)and the high dose of Armillariella tabescens group during 24~72 h(P0.01)was all significantly lower than the model group,respectively,but 5-HT in pons medulla tissue,only the high dose of Armillariella tabescens group at 24 h(P0.05)was significantly lower than the model group.Conclusion Armillariella tabescens could effectively inhibit cisplatin-induced pica response of Kaolin,and the mechanisms of Armillariella tabescens preventing cisplatin-induced pica response should be that it might inhibit the release of 5-HT in duodenum and gastric antrum tissue.
