Research advance about anti-radiation effect of traditional Chinese medicine

Ionizing radiation led to the emergence of various body injuries,including oxidative stress,hematopoietic function abnormality,immunological dysfunction and DNA strand breaks,etc.The radiation hazards can not be neglected.Therefore,drugs,especially active compounds of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)which have the effect to resist radiation become the hotspot in pharmaceutical industry nowadays.Many traditional Chinese medicines(TCM)were reported to have effects of scavenging free radicals,protecting the hematopoietic system and enhancing the body immune system.Thus the ones protecting the body from radiation damage with little toxic or side effects will be good anti-radiation agents.This is a review about research advance of anti-radiation effect of TCM Formulas,TCM and active compounds of TCM.
