Experimental Study on Treating Primary Dysmenorrhea with Tongjing Mixtures

Objective:To testify pharmacological effects of Chinese medicine Tongjing mixtures(TJM) in treating primary dysmenorrheal(PD).Method: To observe the autonomic contraction activities of free rat uterus both in normal status and in those induced by oxytocin and the action of TJM to menorrhalgin mice induced by oxytocin or by acetic acid.Meanwhile study the action of TJM to mice given sodium pentobartital.Result:TJM could strongly inhibit the autonomic contraction activities of free rat uterus both in normal status and in those induced by oxytocin,which is the main functional mechanism of TJM.It could significantly decrease the torsion times of menorrhalgia mice induced by oxytocin or by acetic acid.It could markedly increase the quantities of mice which fell asleep given sodium pentobartital.Conclusion: TJM can inhibit automatic contraction of uterus muscles,which may be pharmacological foundations of its medical effectiveness.
