Fumigation and Immersion of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Treatment of Chronic Keratinized Eczema in Hands and Foot:A Reports of 32 Cases

Objective:To observe the therapeutic effects of immersion and fumigation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating chronic keratinized eczema in hands and foot.Methods:Eighty-eight patients meeting inclusion criteria were randomly divided into 3 groups:TCM group was treated with TCM fumigation and immersion,the western medicine (WM) group with external application of clobetasol propionate,the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine (ITCWM) group with both therapies of TCM group and WM group.Results:The total effective rate in ITCWM group,TCM group and WM group was 100.0%,80.0% and 61.5%,respectively.There was no significant difference in total effective rate between TCM group and WM group (P=0.127);the total effective rate in ITCWM group was significantly higher than that in WM group (P=0.000),and higher than that in TCM group with no significant difference (continuity correction of Chi square test,P=0.026).Conclusion:Fumigation and immersion of TCM combined with external application of glucocorticoid are effective in treating chronic keratinized eczema in hands and foot.
