Study on the Fertility of Soil and the Benefit of Soil-water Conservation for Different Forest Types

With the concerns of soil fertility and water conservation ,the soil of three forest types and non restocking forest land in hill areas of Chaohu were selected to test their soil fertility and water holding capacity.The results indicated that fertility holding of broad leaved wood and bamboo forest were better than that of masson′s pine,and the masson′s pine could enhance valid P content of soil. The pecking order of water storage capacity was broad leaved wood(16 91 t·hm -2 )bamboo forest(7 653 t·hm -2 )masson′s pine(2 83 t·hm -2 )non restocking forest land(2 721 t·hm -2 ),and that of all forest soil types was bamboo forestbroad leaved woodmasson′s pine plantationnon restocking forest land. Broad leaved wood and bamboo forest had a higher water conservation than masson′s pine plantation,suggesting that these forests were more suitable in changing farmland into forest.
