BI Yu-fen,CHE Wei-guang (College of Animal Science and Technology,Yunnan Agricultural University,Kunming 730070)
The fall dormancy of 28 populations of Medicago (M.sativa,M.falcata,M.varia) from Northern Xinjiang was studied. The fall dormancy of 17 cultivars of Medicago from 6 nations, including China, the United States and the former Soviet Union etc.was also analyzed. The result showed that the fall dormancy of domestic Medicago germplasm consisted of 3 grades, namely grade 1,2 and 3 and the wild populations from Northern Xinjiang was ranked grade 1.The results also indicated that Medicago populations of Northwestern China possessed the stronger cold resistance germplasm, especially those of Northern Xinjiang.
