Evaluation on hydrological function of five typical plantations in Huashan forest farm,Guangxi

A study on the canopy interception,litter water-holding capacity and soil water holding capacity in five typical plantations,e.g.Pinus massoniana,Pinus elliottii,Eucalyptus urophylla,Liquidambar formo-sana,Schima superba were conducted in Huashan forest farm,Guangxi.The results indicated that the canopy interception rates of the five plantations were S.superba(41.4%)P.massoniana(21.8%)P.elliottii (21.3%)L.formosana(21.2%)E.urophylla(19.4%),and the canopy interception significantly reduced as precipitation increased.The maximum water-holding capacity of litter ranked as E.urophylla(8.22 t·hm-2)L.formosana(5.74 t·hm-2)P.massoniana(5.15 t·hm-2)P.elliottii(4.67 t·hm-2)S.superba(3.39 t·hm-2).There was a positive relationship between litter accumulation and its maximum water-holding capacity(P0.01).The order of the maximum soil water storage was P.massoniana(2 943 t·hm-2)S.superba(2 806 t·hm-2)E.urophylla(2 719 t·hm-2)P.elliottii(2 631 t·hm-2)L.formosana(2 458 t·hm-2),and the steady infiltration rates was P.massoniana(1.88 mm·min-1)L.formosana(1.20 mm·min-1)P.elliottii(0.99 mm·min-1)E.urophylla(0.73 mm·min-1)S.superba(0.68 mm·min-1).Our study provides scientific basis for quantitative evaluation on hydrological function of forest plantations in Southern China.
