Removal of electroplating organic pollutants by UV-Fenton reagent

UV-Fenton reagent was used to treat the organic pollutants in electroplating waste water.The UV process,Fenton process and UV-Fenton process were compared,and the effect of operating parameters of UV-Fenton reaction,such as pH,amount of Fenton's reagent(H2O2 and FeSO4),and reaction time were deter-mined.The best operating conditions were determined as that the amount of H202 at the equivalent of COD,the Fenton reagents proportion(Fe2+ : H202)about 1/10(molecule ratio),and 6 min for reaction time.The COD removal rate was as high as 94.6%,and the pH of waste water was between 2-7 under this condition.The results indicate that the treatment of electroplating organic pollutants by UV-Fenton reagent is efficient.
