Soil respiration rates for main stand types dominanted by Picea in the central part of Tianshan Mountains

Soil respiration rate varies with the vegetation contents in the forest ecosystems.In the central part of Tianshan Mountains,three kinds of forest types that distributed according to altitude were spruce pure forest,spruce and mountain ash mixed forest,and spruce,cypress,and subalpine meadow.In order to find the difference among these three kinds of forest types,we measured the soil respiration rate using LI-6400 Photosynthesis Sys-tem with soil chamber(LI-6400-09) from June to September.The results showed that the soil respiration rates of three kinds of forest types was unimodality curve from June to September,respectively,but the maximum values were existed in July,and it was 5.65 ± 0.46 μmol ·m-2 ·s-1,5.79 ± 0.27 μmol ·m-2 ·s-1,and 4.49 ± 0.29 μmol ·m-2 ·s-1.In these three kinds of forest types,the soil respiration rate of spruce and mountain ash mixed forest type was highest.During the whole measurement time,soil relative moisture was the dominant factor that affected the for-est soil respiration rate.
