Genotypic Variation and Germplasm Evaluation of Soybeans in Resistance to Leaf-feeding Insects

ZHAN Qiuwen 1,2 ,CAI Junyi 1 (Soybean Research Institute,Nanjing Agricultural University;National Center of Soybean Improvement,Nanjing 210095; 1,2 Anhui Agrotechnical Teachers College,Fengyang 233100)
The 46 resistant of susceptible soybean entries screened out from 6724 accessions together with five released cultivars were evaluated for their resistance to leaf-feeding insects(LFIs)in field in terms of their defoliation percentage during 1997~1998.The results showed that there existed significant difference in the resistance of soybeans among varieties.record dates and years ,and there existed also signiricant interactions between varieties and record dates, and between varieties and years.According to the results of identification of soubeans germplasm to LFIs in 1993~1996 in field, three accessions highly resistant to LFIs i.e. N3697,N1178-2-2,N21551,performed consistently better than the five released cultivars did.A set of resistant and susceptible varieties was suggested as the standard checks for compensating the fluctuation of materials and environmental conditions.
