The present paper, the experiment for aerating and microbial growth were carried out to define the factors involving media selection, such as its density, material, as well as the form. The experiment methods included aerating, oxygenation capacity and filming in water. The experiment set is made of plexiglass. Its diameter is 300 mm and the depth is 2.5 m. The tap water is used as the experiment water. The diameter of the aeration pipe is 3 mm. The results show that the optimum special density of media should be 0.95~0.99 g/cm 3. When media is added to the aeration bank, the oxygenation capacity of the common perforated pipe can be improved. When the adding rate of the media is optimum, the oxygen transfer rate and utilization percent is increased with the adding media amount increasing. What is more, polypropylene proves easier to grow biofilm than polyethylene does with the quality of cylindrical being better than that of spherical.
