Improved ASEP post-accident HRA technique based on THERP

The present article aims to introduce the authors' improvement on an HRA(Human Reliability Analysis,HRA) method or technique applied in the engineering practice.As is known,the HRA method has to meet the needs of the three criteria: accuracy,simplicity and normalization,yet,it is hard to satisfy such needs in actual engineering practice for the reason that the technique for Human Error Rate Prediction(THERP) HRA is worked out based on has two disadvantages: the absence of standard analysis procedure and assessment dependence.The analysis gained by using the HRA method is mainly dependant on the judgment of experts working in this aspect in accordance with their deductive labor.To improve on the method,the present article has first of all introduced the basic theory of THERP and then analyzed the shortcomings of the THERP method.Next,it sets forth the main improvement made by Accident Sequence Evaluation Program Human Reliability Analysis(ASEP HRA).Thus,this paper has established a standardized human factor analysis procedure and made a simplification under the condition of a reasonable conservative principle.Thus,it has made a detailed description of the basic engineering procedure of ASEP HRA and,finally,has provided a case study to show how the improved method can be put into actual engineering application.
