Minimal safety distance under heat radiation of pool fire with cross wind

Fire guard distance is an important parameter in the design of petrochemical enterprise.Heat radiation,in open condition,is affected by the steady degree of the atmosphere.Based on the test condition of "Pool Fire A" of SCI blast and fire engineering,the numerical simulation about "10 diameter pool fire of benzene with cross wind" was carried out using Fluent software,and the interspaces distributing of the temperature and every outcome matter were attained thereby.The fire characters were suggested by disposal and analyzing the data: the maximum temperature of the fire is 1 478 K and is on the plane y=0,the incline angle of the fire is 32°(in reference with y-axis);the height of the fire is 10.2 m.At last,the heat radiation of the steady pool fire with cross wind was numerically simulated by CFD software.The results show that under steady state pool fire with cross wind with 2-3 degree,the minimum safety distance between two tanks made of manganese steel with a diameter of 10 m is 20 m up the wind direction and 27 m down the wind direction.The simulation is analyzed at last in the paper.
