Study on the composting process of mushroom residue and chicken litter

The present article is aimed at introducing our method for developing organic manure with the mushroom residue and chicken-like livestock litter. Needless to say, the manure composition here introduced serves just as one of the farm-manure preparing methods for recycling the family waste. In doing so, we would set the temperature of the pile at about 37 ℃ during the initial stage, when building a stack. Then, the temperature should be raised to above 50 ℃ one or two days later. After that, the temperature would have to be kept at above 55 ℃ till 7 days later, which is the temperature enough to sterilize the degenerated or fermented organic manure composition. By the end of the fermentation process, the temperature is expected to be a little higher than the room temperature. As to the initial stage moisture, it has to be kept at 50%60%, and, then, dropping to 15% when the composition is over. The pH value would decrease at the beginning and then rises, and then tends to become mild in the last few days, with the pH being controlled by 7.8 till the process is over. While the fermentation is done, the organic carbon would drop quickly, about 5% in 5 days, especially at the first ferment step. And the organic carbon content is expected to be kept at above 35% at the end of the composition. The total nitrogen content loss is also serious during the first 23 days when the composition begins. Three days later, the organic nitrogen begin to turn to NH3N. The first fermentation stage over the composition pile can help to make lots of NH3 exhalauts, leading to the obvious drop of the total nitrogen content. However, when the process lasts till the sixth day, the change of nitrogen would become insignificant. The total nitrogen loss would drop to about 13.8% to 15%, which means the beginning of the main stage of fermentation. In the composition process, the total kalium and total phosphorus would change their weight due to the pile boiling down and desecration. Nevertheless, when the composition is over, the total content both of kalium and phosphorus would augment. The total preparation process proves to last no more than 30 d. Thus, it can be found that our study is both informative and instructive for the organic manure workers as an access to modern and clean farming road.
