Effects of TBT on the activities of superoxide dismutase and the content of glutathione in two tissues of Oreochromis aureus

The paper intends to present its authors' experimental research on the toxic effects of Tributyltin(TBT)on the activities of superoxide dismutase and the content of glutathione in two cell tissues of Oreochromis aureus.For research purpose,we have injected tributyltin chloride(TBTCl)intraperitoneally into Oreochromis aureus at the dosages of 0 μg/kg,1 μg/kg,3 μg/kg,5 μg/kg and 10 μg/kg and then analyzed the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and the content of glutathione(GSH)based on the prepared tissue homogenate of liver and spermary from Oreochromis aureus with TBT injected.The results of our experiments show that the normal values of SOD in the liver and in spermary exist separately(42.04±2.55)U/mg prot and(27.70±2.34)U/mg prot,just as the normal values of GSH in the liver and in the spermary do(243.87±5.63)mg/g prot and(154.84±4.66)mg/g prot.Both the activities of SOD and the content of GSH were found in liver higher than those in spermary.By contrast,both the activity of SOD and the content of GSH in the control group were found higher than those in the contrast group with extremely remarkable differences.Furthermore,analysis was also done on the differences with the cases with the same dosage but in different times or in the same time but at various dosages.With the dosage going up,the activity of SOD and the content of GSH were found to be increasing and then decreasing in the two tissues with different lengths of time.And then,the activity of SOD and the content of GSH were found reaching the highest points at the dosage of 3 μg/kg.Thus,it can be concluded that TBT would cause the increase of the activity of SOD and the content of GSH not only in the liver but in the spermary,which indicate that through affecting the antioxidant defenses of spermary,TBT is likely to make damaging effect on the spermary cells,and also likely to lead to risks reducing the reproducibility of some kinds of fishes.
