Application of weight-variable theory and the relative difference functions to construction fire risk assessment

The present author wishes to introduce his findings in applying fuzzy assessment of construction's fire risks in some new approaches instead of traditional assessment methods.Although there are still many researchers with strong belief that traditional assessment methods are still valuable and feasible,it is no doubt that there indeed exist some inefficiency and even deficiencies with these traditional fuzzy simulative assessments.For example,with traditional risk assessments,the index weight is constant,which may lead to each factor's influence on the tiny subsystems.Furthermore,if a few of factors are inferior,the whole system would be possibly made highly rated.Therefore,if the assessment results in more rational,a formula adjusting the weights has to be introduced in the paper.Facing such problems,the suggested method here makes each index weight variable.In addition,if a few of factors involved are inferior,their weights are likely to be adjusted big enough to affect the results.Besides,the paper has also studied how to get more rational membership degrees of each factor.As is known in the former studies,membership degree is usually obtained by some subordinated functions.However,a subordinated function can be often achieved by experience and isn't in accord with the actual fact.Furthermore,a function of relative difference has been introduced in the paper to get the subordinated functions.The merit of the method suggested here is that the subordinated function gained in this way may come into well accord with the factor's physical conception and can be adjusted expediently.In the end of the paper,the two newly methods suggested by the author are tested by a fire risk assessment for a shopping mall.The result indicates that the two methods trial-adopted are both feasible and rational.
