Safety influence of shallow-buried tunnels on the nearby buildings and reinforcing measures to be taken

This paper intends to introduce its author' s study of the safety influence of shallow-buried tunnels on the nearby buildings and reinforcing measures to be taken.As is known,with the fast develop- ment of urban construction,more and more underground tunnels have been built,most of which are covered in shallow-depth burying means.In so doing,the surrounding buildings have been found de- formed or even damaged to various extents.Take Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao,for example,architectural engineering problems caused by such shallow-buried tunnels are quite common,including the con- struction of such tunnels across highrises.In this paper,we have in- vestigated the effect between the tunnel construction and buildings and analyzed the actual negative influence by using fmite element method and on-spot observation.Our study results show that the numerical simulation results of ours prove to be in conformity with the actual calculation results by taking the construction of complex rock cavern foundations as a case study.Thus,it can be said that the FEM turns to be a suitable method for doing the stability analysis of foundation with an open cavern.Though the tunnel construction can make the foundation of the buildings an uneven settlement,the deformation of the buildings can be tested and measured to be controllable if proper methods and reinforcement measures are taken.The results can also provide a method to estimate the uneven setdement.Hence,the re- sults of our study can have highly practical value in the future archi- tectural proiects.
