TG kinetics of decomposition of magesite powder and its pellet

TG experiment of decomposition of magnesite powder was carried out on a thermal analyzer at heating rate of 5,10,20 and 30 K/min,and characteristic parameters of decomposition kinetics were calculated with Coats-Redfern equation.The decomposition process of magnesite may be divided into two stages,beginning stage and fast stage of decomposition,and decomposition rate can be expressed by a one order kinetics equation.At the two stages,activation energy of decomposition reaction is 130.78 kJ/mol and 163.73 kJ/mol respectively.The conversition temperature of the two stages increases and that the conversion decomposition fraction decreases with heating rate increasing.
