Study of a Fluoride-selective Sensing Membrane Based on Fluorescence Quenching

A new optical sensing membrane for the determination of F~(-) based on fluorescence quenching of 8-hydroxyl-quinoline dissolved in plasticized polyvinyl chloride has been developed, and the characteristics of this membrane has also been studied. With the optimum sensing membrane described, the relative fluorescence intensity was linear with the concentration of F~(-) in the range of 5×10~(-6) mol/L to 5×10~(-2) mol/L.The detection limit was 2.5×10~(-6)mol/L, RSD was 2.0%. This sensing membrane could be used for the determination of fluoride in water samples.
