Topology Optimization Design for Microstructures of Cellular Materials

A new model is presented for topology optimization of microstructure of cellular material in two-dimensional case. The bulk modulus or shear modulus is maximized,constraints on the volume fraction of material. The effective elastic constants of material are calculated by homogenization method based on FEM. By means of the mathematical programming method of MMA,the optimal problem is solved. The filtering of sensitivities is using in eliminating the numerical instability issues. Numerical results verify the validity of the proposed topology optimization model and algorithm; influences of material volume fraction and mesh on the optimal microstructures are discussed also.
